On Wednesday night, my sisters and brother began their journey to Tennessee. The long drive was split between the three of them, and was accompanied with many Instergram photos. The three of them were on their way to Bonnaroo a four-day concert.
Of course I was jealous, they were going to be in Tennessee at a concert for four days, while I would be here with rain. They lived in a tent and music played in the afternoon through the night till 6 o’clock in the morning the next day. I became more jealous when I saw the bands that were playing there including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foster the People, Radiohead, Skrillex and about forty other artists.
The three of them kept me posted and took plenty of pictures, but it was not the same for me as it was for them. Bonnaroo was created by Mark Barr and AC Entertainment and is held at , Great Stage Park a 700-acre farm located in Manchester, Tennessee. This yeaar the music festivle held its 11th annual show from June 7-10, 2012. The music festivle inlcudes all differnt types of music inlcuding including indie rock, world music, hip hop, jazz, americana, bluegrass, gospel, country music, reggae, folk, electronica, and other alternative music. This is on the list for “50 Moments That have Changed Rock & Roll” for the Rolling Stone Magazine. The FEstivle is ver econmicly friendly and counties to become better and better after each year, and it has been recognized by A Greener Festival.
When you first go to Bonarro you enter through the Centeroo, this is where most of the Festivle activityis located, differnt merchants and activites relating to music are here and are open 24 hours. The What Stage is usally where the top performers play; it is the biggest stage and is the place to be when the big bands come to play, usally the shows here end at 3 in the morning. The Which stage this is where many of the late night shows that play until 5 to 6 in the morning. This Tent, That Tent, and The Other Tent also have stages where many performers play and it has many late night shows. There also is a Comedy tent strictly for the comedians. Bonnarro also has a few more tents called SOlar Stage, Lunar Stage, Sonic Stage, and Cinema tent. They also made sure to play the NBA playoffs for all of the basketball fans.
Some other Activities at Bonarro include the Silent Disco Tent, each person upon entering is giving a set of headphones that syncs witha DJ and his music. Everyone in the tent is lisening to the same music on their headpphones, and is dancing to it. When going by it gives the impression that all of these people are dancing to no music. (artsy). Planet Roo is another tent which has many people and organizations that promote a healthier lifestyle. THere is also Splash-a-roo which is a ginat slip and slide and allows the audinece to cool down in the hot Tennese sun. And lastly there is a Graffit Wall which allows any artist to draw what they are feeling freely.
In short, it’s beyond cool and I am insanely jealous but plan to try to go next year!
