Now a larger, smarter, and stronger team, The MHS Robotics Team aims for another year of success. We started in 2012 with a “Bang,” a year that serves no justice to our potential for this year. Although a few of our members have left for college or have moved away, many entered our doors to join the pursuit of success. Over the last several months, new members have been training in both programming and mechanical design through the use of Lego NXT Mindstorm robots and later, C-language powered robots that will be used in competition. Our goal in competition for this year is to excel last’s year high benchmarks at the Botball Robotics Competition, combining a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) environment into a competitive, collaborative, exciting, and educational environment. However, there is one thing stopping us: Funds.
The possibility of competing this year is very uncertain. In order to competitive, the team must meet a $2,500 registration fee. At the moment, our team has received an $800 grant from the Botball Scholarship, meaning our team still needs $1,700. Our deadline of January 25th is very urgent; if the team does not raise enough funds, it will have no choice but to reluctantly withdraw from competition and to thus, dispose all of our efforts. Our team is composed of members of all skills with these general goals: to learn, to teach, to succeed, and to reach out to others who wish to join us or simply have fun; we hope that our efforts to improve school will not be restrained.
