The Wise Fools

by Maria Loutraris

It all started with Peanut Butter and the Jellies at the talent show this past year  where myself, a violinist and a senior, Guitarist and vocalist, Christian Colegrove (senior), and cellist, Mark Cangiano (junior) came together and performed Noah’s Nameless Wife by Bryan John Appleby.  We recruited guitarist John Coakley (junior), vocalist Samantha Dorcean (junior), percussionist Aaron King (senior) and mandolinist, Gus Bowder-Newton (sophomore) and formed The Wise Fools.  The Wise Fools, comes from the wise fool or wisdom of the fool, a major theme in Shakespeare’s tragedy, Hamlet, that reflects Hamlet’s character.

We play pop-folk type music, similar to Mumford and Sons, Airborne Toxic Event and Imagine Dragons as well as originals while trying to incorporate a wider range of genres and sounds in our acts.  We have recently played at the Lillypad on Mass Ave, the All Asia Club in Cambridge and at the coffeehouses at Bestsellers Café.  There is a Facebook page that will be updated with upcoming events and performances.
