Movie Review: Prisoners

By: David Kong

Prisoners is a suspense/thriller film directed by Denis Villeneuve about two little girls from Pennsylvania who are kidnapped right after Thanksgiving dinner and cannot be traced by the police or their families. Hugh Jackman plays the role of Keller Dover, a hard working carpenter, father, and husband who does everything possible to get his and his best friend’s daughters back. The main suspect, Alex Jones who is played by Paul Dano, is  a very creepy character who drives in an RV that the two girls were playing on and found an interest in before they went missing. The expert detective is played by Jake Gyllenhaal and up to this point has solved every case that he has been assigned to; however, Officer Loki, Jake Gyllenhaal’s character does not know if he can solve this case and save the two little girls.

The movie released September 20th and has already made over $77 million in theaters. Opening weekend for this movie made over $20 million and budget for the movie was $46 million.

The movie is very fascinating and will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout from beginning to end. The riveting plot of this film takes many twists and turns and is very unpredictable. This thriller is worth going to the movies and gets two thumbs way up!
